Senior Shamika Singleton of the women's basketball team is the 17th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year for her performance in the CTX Holiday Classic. She is earning the honor for the eighth time in her career.
Singleton helped Concordia (8-1) continue its best start in program history by averaging 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals while helping the Tornados post a 1-1 ledger. After registering 14 points in just 16 minutes of action against Wisconsin-Whitewater, she posted a double-double with an 18-point, 12-rebound effort in the team’s 74-58 win over Northland.
“Shamika has done it all for us and played extremely well in the CTX Christmas Classic,” stated head coach Rusty Rainbolt.
Singleton, a physical therapy major, is the daughter of Tommy Singleton and Cotina Jones. She has one brother, Tommy, and two younger sisters, De'Angela and Tiera.
