Junior Nick Haynes of the men’s basketball team is the 18th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year for his efforts at Texas-Dallas and Ozarks. He is earning the honor for the second time in his career.
Nick Haynes averaged 24 points over the two games and made a combined 12 shots from downtown. He scored 17 points in a 92-91 victory over Texas-Dallas before lighting up for 31 in a 107-98 loss against Ozarks.
“Nick continues to be the league’s most lethal 3-point shooter and had two strong performances on the road for us,” said head coach Stan Bonewitz.
Haynes, a marketing major, is the son of Keith and Angela Haynes. He has one sister, Erica, and one brother, Marquez.
