Senior Lashanda Luckey of the women’s basketball team is the 23rd Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year for her performances in victories over McMurry and Hardin-Simmons. She also helped the Tornados set all-time single-season school records for overall victories (18) and American Southwest Conference wins (16).
Luckey led the Tornados in scoring (15.5 ppg), rebounding (8.5 ppg) and steals (3.0 pg) while ranking second in assists (3.0 pg). She registered 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block in a 59-50 win over McMurry before adding 14 points, nine rebounds, five steals and two assists in a 73-60 victory over Hardin-Simmons as the Tornados swept their season series with the Cowgirls for the first time ever. Concordia is guaranteed to record its highest finish in program history in the ASC West Division standings and will make its first appearance in the ASC Tournament since 2005.
Luckey, a behavioral science major from Garland, is the daughter of Latoniadra and Jeffrey Luckey. She has two brothers, Jerome and Jamal.
