Concordia Texas Athletics

The loudest player on the Concordia Women’s Basketball Team is quietly having the one of the best years in her career and maybe on the team.  Quietly, Whitney Clancy has averaged almost 5 assists per game and while she has played almost 32 minutes per game and touches the ball on almost every possession, she has only turned the ball over 2 times per game.  Clancy this week entered the top 20 in the statistic of Assist to Turnover Ratio with a 2.13, a number which also puts her at the top of the ASC Conference.  While this statistic is unheralded, it indicates consistency and unselfishness; two terms which describe Whitney Clancy perfectly.

During each game you can spot Whitney two ways.  The first is from her #21 Concordia Jersey which she wears with pride.  The second is simply by watching the game.  She is always on the floor diving for a loose ball, forcing a jump ball, pointing and creating on the court.  She is fiery during games and the first to lift up a teammate during practice.  She may be bruised and battered, but she always returns to the floor with the same enthusiasm each game.

There are no highlight films of made free-throws yet Clancy is sinking 81%.  She is second on the team in a number of statistics (including points scored, minutes played).  This season she quietly passed the 500 career point plateau and will easily leave her mark in a number of career records.
