Sophomore Jessica Parish of the softball team is the 32nd Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year. She is receiving the award for the first time of her career.
Parish helped the Tornados sweep a four-game series against Hardin-Simmons for the first time in program history over the weekend. She batted .615 with eight hits, including five for extra bases, to go along with six RBI and five runs scored. The sophomore also slugged 1.231 and had a .706 on-base percentage. Parish’s best performance came in the third game when she nearly hit for the cycle. She went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in an 8-2 Concordia victory.
Parish, a kinesiology major from Lexington, Texas, is the daughter of Helen and Richard Parish. She has one brother, Jason.
