BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's golf team opened the spring season with a strong performance, defeating Howard Payne in the first round of match play in the Camp Bowie Intercollegiate Friday at Brownwood Country Club.
All five players for the Tornados won their respective matches and CTX advanced to the semifinals in their quest to defend their crown after winning the Camp Bowie match play in 2018.
Loren Nevers and
Grace Savage both picked up huge victories in their respective matches, each grabbing wins by virtue of being up by 10 holes with eight to go.
Makaela Lauritsen was also dominant in her win, going up by eight with six holes left to play.
Tiana Shobe, meanwhile, won her matchup when she went up seven holes with just five holes left, while
Madyson Milliorn won her contest after leading by five holes with four to play.
The Tornados will face off against Schreiner in the semifinals on Saturday with the winner advancing to the championship match.
