Tornados fall to UT Dallas in ASC Championship match

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team faced off against UT Dallas in the American Southwest Conference Tournament championship match on Friday, falling short 5-1 to finish as the conference's runner-up.

It is the Tornados best finish in program history at the conference tournament and ends a historic season for the team, setting school records in overall wins, conference wins and clinching the program's first-ever ASC West Division title.

Against the Comets, CTX fell behind 2-1 after the completion of the doubles matches; as Joshua Bode and Esteban Arredondo earned the lone win at line one with an 8-6 decision.

In singles, the Tornados looked to battle back as Bode won the first set of his match at line one, but UTD would go on to pick up wins at lines two, three and four to end the match and clinch the conference title.

For their performances throughout the tournament, Hoanh Le and Bode were named to the ASC All-Tournament team.

Concordia Texas says goodbye to seniors Le and Isaac Glynn but will return next season with five of the six starters, including Bode, who was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American after winning the ITA Southwest Regional earlier this season.
