Tornados sweep doubles play, win 6-3 over Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team swept doubles play on their way to a 6-3 victory over Schreiner on Saturday.
 
The Tornados dominated doubles play, sweeping all three matches to start the day with a 3-0 advantage.
 
Isabella Wilk and Natalia Goodman got things started, securing the tiebreaker 7-5 to win the match 8-7 at line one. Kaitlin Stevens and Claire Austin followed with an 8-3 victory at line two, and Emily Hines and Rachel Sweitzer capped off doubles play with a lopsided 8-2 win at line three.
 
After sweeping doubles play, the Tornados secured the 6-3 team win by picking up singles wins at line three, five, and six.
 
Goodman won in two sets at line three, taking the tiebreaker 7-5 to come out on top 7-6 in the first set and winning the second set outright 6-3. Next, Hines took the match a line four in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, and Sweitzer ended the day with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at line six.
 
Next, Concordia Texas will return to their home courts for the first time since Feb. 6, hosting McMurry for an American Southwest Conference matchup at River Place Country Club in Austin, Texas on Saturday at 1 p.m.
