GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team concluded regular season play with a commanding victory, playing to a 9-0 sweep over Sul Ross State without losing a single game Saturday.
The Tornados began the day with a sweep in doubles play, earning three points right away.
At line one,
Joshua Bode and
Esteban Arredondo teamed up for the first 8-0 victory, and
Jorge Garcia and
Evan Pena Jr. blanked the SRSU duo 8-0 at line two.
Jesse West, making his first appearance in doubles play this season, paired up with
Nico De La Pena for the final doubles win, cruising to an 8-0 victory.
In singles play, the Tornados continued their stellar day, winning all six matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Arredondo cruised to his first line one victory this season, and Pena Jr. also made his debut at line two, playing to an easy shutout victory.
At line three, Garcia picked up his second straight singles victory, and De La Pena steamrolled his way to a win at line four.
West earned his third singles victory of the season at line five, and
Jacob Naiser capped off the sweep with a line six win in his season debut.
After the match, Concordia Texas took time to honor its five seniors,
Joshua Bode,
Esteban Arredondo,
Jorge Garcia,
Jesse West, and Nico De La Pen, for their continued hard work and dedication both on and off the court over their time as a Tornado.
With the regular season in the books, the Tornados will look towards the American Southwest Conference tournament, beginning on May 5 with CTX scheduled to host.
