RICHARDSON, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's tennis team 2021-22 season came to a close in the American Southwest Conference semifinals, falling 5-1 to UT Dallas Friday.
Coming off the first conference tournament win in program history, the Tornados' run ended in the semifinals as they were unable to best the Comets.
In doubles play,
Trinity Klamecki and
Claire Austin picked up the lone win, toppling the UTD duo at line three 8-6.
In singles play, line three was the first match completed. Austin battled but came up short 6-1, 6-1.
Next,
Kayla Pena won a game in the second set but ultimately fell 6-0, 6-1 at line one.
At line two,
Isabella Wiik was unable to pick up the win, falling 6-1, 6-0.
The matches of Klamecki at line four,
Natalia Goodman at line five, and
Kaitlin Stevens at line six all went unfinished.
With the season at a close, Concordia Texas says farewell to seniors
Claire Austin,
Natalia Goodman, and
Kaitlin Stevens who all achieved history as a senior class by winning the first ASC Tournament match in program history.
The Tornados will return with a stellar roster chalked full of talent and experience in 2022-23, ready to make a postseason run and build upon the program's best season yet.
