AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's tennis team battled to a 6-3 victory over Hardin-Simmons University. The Tornados overcame a deficit in doubles and rallied for the win on Senior Day at the River Place Country Club.
Kayla Pena & Isabella Cepeda took care of business on line one with an 8-1 win. Emily Pullen & Kaitlin Stevens dueled, but just fell short in an 8-6 loss on court two. Trinity Klamecki & Aria Moreni forced a tiebreaker in the final doubles match, but the Cowgirls were able to take a 2-1 advantage into singles.
Cepeda tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Pena tallied the go-ahead 6-3, 7-5 victory on line one. Natalia Goodman posted a 6-4, 6-2 win, and Klamecki clinched the team win with a score of 6-4, 7-6. Pullen (6-3, 6-2) then gave Concordia their final win of the day.
Concordia Texas will next cap off non-conference play in Sherman, Texas where they will take on Austin College next Saturday, April 13th. First serve is set for 1pm.
