PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Concordia Texas cross country program concluded its 2025 season at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Saturday in Prairie View, Texas. The Tornados placed eighth in the men's standings and ninth on the women's side at the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Farm and Ranch on Saturday.
In the men's 8K, Samuel Valdez continued his strong season by recording a new personal record of 27:11.03, leading the Tornados with a top individual finish. Hector Gutierrez also notched a personal best with a time of 29:28.33, while Matthew Kangas crossed in 27:54.45.
Gerardo Leal (29:07.63) and Isaias Mendoza (29:40.81) rounded out the scoring runners for Concordia. Damon Vasquez (30:42.95), Edward Wells Wensley (31:53.52), and Kaden Wolridge (39:03.34) also competed with determined efforts to close out the men's lineup.
On the women's side, nearly the entire roster set new personal bests as Lilianna Lutz, Ashley Rivera, Kaydence Williamson, Camille McWhorter, Skye Wardlay, and Ashley Ramirez all achieved PRs in the 6K race. Lutz led the Tornados with an impressive 25:27.36, finishing as the sixth-fastest freshman in the meet and posting the fifth-fastest freshman time in program history.
Rivera followed with a strong 26:13.17, while Williamson (29:21.54), McWhorter (29:48.93), and Wardlay (29:51.94) completed the scoring for CTX. Belkin Vega-Molina (30:08.48), Ramirez (31:01.45), and Valarie Sanchez (31:55.48) rounded out the team's performance. Vega-Molina & Sanchez put in big time performances in their first competition of the season as this also served as Sanchez's first collegiate competition of her career.
