The Concordia Texas women's tennis team showcased resilience and determination in a grueling doubleheader on February 7, bouncing back from a tough morning match with a commanding 7-0 sweep in the evening.
Game 1:
Taking on No. 14-ranked Trinity University, the Tornados fought with grit, refusing to back down against one of the nation's top programs. While the final score showed a 7-0 victory for the Tigers, Concordia had its moments. The No. 1 doubles duo of
Isabella Cepeda and
Kayla Pena dominated their match with a flawless 6-0 win, proving they could compete at the highest level. Meanwhile,
Emily Pullen and
Valerie Sanchez put up a fierce battle at No. 2 doubles, narrowly falling 6-4 in a hard-fought contest. Despite the final result, the Tornados showed flashes of their potential, pushing Trinity to earn every point.
Game 2:
Determined to respond, Concordia stormed into their evening matchup against Austin College with fire and purpose. From the opening serve, the Tornados took control, sweeping all three doubles matches with decisive 6-0 and 6-1 victories. In singles,
Pena set the tone with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance at the No. 1 spot.
Cepeda and
Sanchez followed with commanding straight-set wins, and the Tornados refused to drop a single set en route to a flawless 7-0 shutout.
