AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas Men's Tennis team earned a hard-fought 6-3 victory over LeTourneau, using a strong showing in singles play to secure the team win.
In doubles action, the Tornados claimed the point with wins on courts one and three. Daniel Beckles and Rowan Daniell battled to a 7-5 victory at No. 1, while Jake Riggs and Steven Scholz added a 6-3 win at No. 3. LeTourneau took the No. 2 spot, but CTX secured the early 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Concordia delivered in singles play, winning four of the six matches to clinch the victory. Beckles controlled the No. 2 position with a straight-set 6-2, 7-5 win, while Kade Talbot added another straight-set victory at No. 4, 7-5, 6-1.
Scholz secured one of the most thrilling matches of the day at No. 1 singles, rallying after dropping the first set to win in three, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7). Aaron Griffin also picked up a three-set victory at No. 3, outlasting his opponent 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-1.
Concordia Texas will next return home to host Schreiner University this Friday, April 2nd. First pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
