Mercedes Vega

Mercedes Vega is a volunteer assistant coach after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Tornados.

Prior to joining the Concordia coaching staff, Vega competed collegiately at NCAA Division I University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. A native of Cadiz, Spain, Vega spent four seasons with the Vaqueros from 2020-24 and competed regularly throughout her career.

Vega put together one of her strongest seasons as a junior in 2022-23. She placed seventh at the UTRGV Invitational after shooting an even-par 216 with rounds of 71, 71 and 74. She also finished ninth at the Texas State Invitational, highlighted by a final-round 70, and tied for 19th at the Western Athletic Conference Championship.

Vega also excelled academically during her playing career. She earned WGCA All-American Scholar, CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-WAC recognition while also earning multiple spots on the UTRGV AD Honor Roll.

After concluding her collegiate playing career, Vega joined the Concordia Texas coaching staff as a graduate assistant and worked with both the men's and women's golf programs during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
