Among the team’s top five runners … made collegiate debut at the Hardin-Simmons Invitational (Sept. 1), completing the 4-mile circuit in 23:49 to place 13th overall and third on the team … finished third on the squad and 33rd overall by posting a 5,000-meter time of 18:29.22 at the Texas Lutheran Invitational (Sept. 8) … recorded a personal-best 5k mark of 18:00.6 at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic (Sept. 14) to finish 36th in the field and fourth on the squad … helped the Tornados win a dual meet against Southwestern (Sept. 6) by running a 4-mile time of 23:35.12, which was good for fourth overall and second on the team … placed 68th individually and fifth on the squad in first-ever 8k race by navigating the course in 30:37.2 at the Incarnate Word Invitational (Oct. 6) … led Concordia Texas to a fifth-place finish, their second highest in school history, by running a personal-best 8k time of 28:50.16 at the American Southwest Conference Championships (Oct. 27) … clocked in the second-fastest 8k course mark at a championship meet in the program annals to finish 30th overall and second on the team.

High School
Two-year letter winner in cross country … captained the team as a senior … also ran on the track & field team for three years … personal-best marks were 2:01 in the 800m and 4:37 in the mile … regional qualifier in the 4x400.

Son of Roxanna Chavez-Smith and Gregory Smith … has two brothers, Weston and Christopher … also a middle distance runner on the Tornados men's track & field team … majoring in kinesiology.
