Jason Rogers begins his fifth season with the Concordia Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field program. Since joining the staff in the fall of 2017, his distance athletes have broken school records in the Women's 5K and 10K Track; and the Men's 1500m, 3K Steeplechase, 5K and 10K. They have also achieved 1 ASC Individual Conference Championship, 2 ASC 1st Team Cross Country All-Conference, 4 ASC 2nd Team Cross Country All-Conference, 3 ASC Track & Field All-Conference, 2 ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year, and 32 ASC Academic All-Conference awards.

In 2021, freshman Bianca Bagwell won the Women's 800m and finished 2nd in the 1500m at the ASC Track and Field Championships. The men scored in every distance event from the 800m to the 10K for the first time in school history, including 4th place finishes by sophomore Rick Platas in the 10K and sophomore Jacob Ismir in the 3K Steeplechase. School Records were set in the Men's 5K (Platas), 10K (Platas) and 3K Steeplechase (Ismir). During the abbreviated Cross Country season held during the winter; Bagwell, Platas and Ismir would all achieve 2nd Team All-Conference at the ASC Cross Country Championships.Â

In 2020, the Track and Field season was cut short due to COVID-19 and only 3 meets were held. School records were still set in Men's 5K (Jiro Daniels) and 10K (Platas). No Cross Country competition was held that year.

In 2019, sophomore Sam Stewart broke his own school record in the Men's 1500m. He also placed 5th in the event during the ASC Track & Field Championships. In Cross Country, freshman Brianna Lopez would earn an ASC 2nd Team All-Conference award with her 13th place finish.

In 2018, freshman Sam Stewart would set a school record in the Men's 1500m, eventually finishing 3rd in the event at the ASC Track & Field Championships. Junior Emily Villines would break school records in the Women's 5K and 10K. She would go on to finish 2nd in the 5K and 10K at the ASC Track and Field Championship breaking Conference records in both events and earning her 2 All-Conference and the Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year awards. During Cross Country, Villines would finish 7th at the ASC Cross Country Championships earning her another 1st Team All-Conference and Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year award.

In 2017, junior Emily Villines would place 3rd at the ASC Cross Country Championships and 30th at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships.Â

Prior to joining Concordia, Rogers spent 15 years coaching Cross County and Distance Track at high schools in California, Maryland and Louisiana. Over that time he developed 1 Nike Indoor National Qualifier, 1 Maryland Regional Champion, a Conference Record-setting 4x800m team, 3 Conference Champions, and 91 State qualifiers. His teams won 2 Conference Championships and placed in the top 10 at the Maryland State Cross Country Championships 8 out of the 11 times they qualified.Â

Prior to moving to Texas in 2015, Rogers had previously assisted the Fontainbleau High School Cross Country program in Mandeville, LA. From 2006-2012, he helped build the Cross Country and Track program at North Point High School in Waldorf, MD. Over two dozen of his athletes would go on to run collegiately at the NCAA Division I and III levels. From 2002-2003, Rogers assisted with the Carmel High School Cross Country and Track program at Carmel High School in Carmel, CA.

Rogers grew up in Saline, MI and earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from North Central College in Naperville, IL, where he was a provisional NCAA Division III national qualifier in the 3000m Steeplechase and a member of 3 National Championship teams from 1998-2002. He has a M.S. in Computer Science from the Naval Post-graduate School in Monterey, CA. He continues to work in the Information Security field for InVision, after previous roles at Cisco Systems, GE Capital and the Naval Research Laboratory. He currently holds USATF Level I and II (Endurance) coaching certifications.Â

Rogers lives in Round Rock, Texas with his wife Amy and his four children.
