Dave Sherrill

Concordia University Texas named Dave Sherrill as the new head coach of men's and women's cross country and track & field on April 16, 2025. After serving as assistant coach for the past year and a half, Sherrill brings a proven track record of leadership, athlete development and a deep commitment to the University's mission.

With more than a decade of coaching experience, Sherrill previously spent eight years as head coach at Summit Christian Academy. There, he led the men's track team to a TAPPS 1A state runner-up finish and guided the cross-country team to back-to-back third-place finishes at state. Under his leadership, numerous athletes became state champions, medalists, and collegiate competitors. At Concordia Texas, his impact was immediate. This past season, his distance runners broke two school records, highlighting his ability to develop talent at the collegiate level.

In addition to his coaching experience, Sherrill holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems and brings valuable organizational skills from managing multimillion-dollar projects in the business sector. His coaching philosophy is rooted in relationship-building, communication and trust—principles he credits with building strong, competitive teams.

Sherrill is a USATF-certified coach who continues to compete in master's track and field events. He lives in Cedar Park with his wife, Patty, and is the proud father of four adult sons: Jacob, Connor, Adam and Paul. A member of Grace Community Bible Church in Austin, Sherrill integrates faith and athletics into every aspect of his coaching, mentoring students both on and off the field.
