Shamika Singleton led the women’s basketball team to a 1-1 week. She averaged 22.5 points to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game at the CTX Holiday Classic.
A junior center, Singleton started the week by registering 24 points, eight boards, two steals and one blocked shot to propel her team to a 63-50 win over Goucher. She followed that performance up with a 21-point effort in a narrow 69-67 loss to Coe, which was among the teams receiving votes in the national polls. Singleton netted the basket which knotted the score at 67-all before a Kohawk player drained the eventual game-winning shot with 9.3 seconds left in regulation.
Singleton is the daughter of Tommy Singleton and Cotina Jones. She has one brother, Tommy (19) and two younger sisters, De'Angela (18) and Tiera (8). Singleton is a computer science major and hopes to become a computer programmer upon graduation from Concordia.
