AUSTIN, TX – Concordia University Texas volleyball fell to non-conference nationally ranked (#13) rival Southwestern University 3-0, Tuesday night in Georgetown, TX. The 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 loss drops Concordia to 9-18 overall and remains 5-15 in American Southwest Conference play. Southwestern, who is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, is now 29-3 and 14-1 in conference play.
Top performers for the Tornados were
Carrie Fisk (Baytown, TX) with 11 kills and Freshman
Kevyn Jackson (Baytown, TX) with 7 kills. Senior
Valerie Martinez (Eagle Pass, TX) added 18 assists during the match while
Sara Keithley (Colorado Springs, CO) finished with 21 digs.
As a team Concordia struggled from the net, as they were out blocked by the Pirates 7-1. Southwestern also finished with a .359 attacking percentage.
Concordia volleyball will round out their 2008 season against Sul Ross State on Friday October 31st. After months of continued construction the final match will be played at home in the brand new Concordia Field House.
A host of activities will be taking place including a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) tailgate at 5:30 PM, wear your costume to the game, senior night and a celebration of the new Field House.
