Abilene, TX- Concordia University Texas volleyball fell to American Southwest Conference (ASC) rival Hardin Simmons University 3-0 on Friday night at the Mabee Complex. The loss drops the Tornados to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the ASC. Hardin Simmons improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the ASC.
Concordia never gained any control during their 3-0 loss dropping sets, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-21.
Sophomore
Carrie Fisk (Baytown, TX) led the Tornados with 8 kills and three service aces. Senior
Sara Keithley (Colorado Springs, CO) picked up 21 digs in the loss.
Offensively, Concordia struggled finishing with only 25 kills and a team hitting percentage of .008. While Hardin Simmons had 35 kills and hit .299 as a team. On the defensive side, a small Concordia line struggled to stop the Cowgirls attacks with only 2.5 team blocks compared to Hardin Simmons 6.5.
The Tornados will be back in town on Sunday for their 2008 home opener at 3:00 pm. Due to continued construction on the new facilities the match has been moved to Round Rock High School.
