ALPINE, Texas -- The Concordia University Texas volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak by winning back-to-back matches over LeTourneau University and the University of Texas-Tyler at the second American Southwest Conference Crossover Friday at the Gallego Center.
The Tornados (7-14, 6-9 ASC) defeated LeTourneau (6-16, 2-10 ASC) 3-1, by the scores of 29-31, 25-17, 25-18, and 28-26.
Freshman outside hitter #Ashley Fernandez# led CTX by posting a match-high 12 kills against the YellowJackets. Sophomore outside hitter #Kevyn Jackson# recorded 20 digs to help the Tornados on defense.
In the nightcap, CTX jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match before being forced into a fifth set against Texas-Tyler (8-14, 2-10 ASC). The Tornados would go on to win the fifth set, 15-9, which propelled them to a 3-2 win.
Fernandez again paced CTX with 14 kills. Senior outside hitter #Carrie Fisk# turned in a double-double after racking up 11 kills and 16 digs.
Jackson posted a team-high 29 digs for the Tornados.
CTX will return to the court tomorrow in a 12:00 p.m. match up with No. 12 Texas-Dallas, which enters the contest with a perfect 16-0 record overall.
