MARSHALL, Texas -- After a slow start, the Concordia University Texas volleyball team battled back to win its first match at the American Southwest Conference Crossover with a 3-2 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday evening.

The Tornados (3-10, 2-5 ASC) lost the first set against the Cru (6-15, 3-3 ASC), but then won sets two and three by scores of 25-18.  After the Cru claimed the fourth set with a 25-9 advantage, CTX put UMHB away with a 15-8 fifth-set win.

Sophomore outside hitter #Kevyn Jackson# paced the Tornados after turning in a double-double with 11 kills and 22 digs.

Sophomore middle blocker #Kalynn White# led CTX with a .294 hitting percentage and posted 10 kills against the Cru.

The Tornados' offense was guided by freshman setter #Bianca Martinez#, who recorded 20 assists. 

CTX will play two more matches at the ASC Crossover in Marshall on Saturday.  The Tornados will begin the day with a 9:30 a.m. match with Mississippi College before closing out the tournament with a 2:30 p.m. match with host East Texas Baptist University.
