AUSTIN, Texas
--- CTX used an improved offense attack to accumulate two American Southwest Conference victories Friday and Saturday and bring its overall mark to (8-12, 6-8 ASC). Concordia, now winners of three of its last four matches, opened with a sweep of Mississippi College 25-23, 25-22, 25-19 and then lost to Texas-Tyler 22-25, 16-25, 25-12, 22-25. The Tornados then picked up a four set win over Mary-Hardin Baylor 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18 to cap off the weekend for April Birdsong's club.

Concordia picked up its first two-win week of the year, in the confines of the CTX Fieldhouse as part of the second ASC Dig Pink Crossover Challenge.

Mississippi College (13-12, 6-6) came into the weekend ranked second in the ASC East division, but was defeated on Friday night by a balanced Tornado attack that featured five players recording at least six kills in the match. Kalynn White led CTX with a match-high ten kills while Jessie Mundfrom collected a match-leading 18 digs. The Tornados hit at a .138 clip for the evening slamming home 42 kills.

Sunday morning saw the University of Texas-Tyler (11-11, 5-7 ASC) use a scrappy defensive effort to hold off Concordia for a four-set win. Texas-Tyler hit at only a .102 clip, but received big kills from Melanie Mercer and Danika Waldrep to sustain its early leads. Kalynn White once again led CTX offensively gathering 14 kills while teammate Amanda Affolter chipped in with ten. Sammy Ladewig dished out 27 assists while Jesse Mundfrom collected a season-high of 38 digs.

In the final match of the day, Concordia dominated a Mary Hardin Baylor team (9-18, 3-10) for the second time this year to roll to the four-set victory. The Tornados hit a stellar .179 for the match and tallied a season-high 13.5 team blocks. Alison Pringle collected seven blocks assists while freshman middle-blocker Emma Clifford picked up five. Kevyn Jackson slammed home 14 kills and CTX picked up seven more from senior Jessie Elaban.

With the two wins Concordia will gain two games of ground on fourth-place Schreiner University. The Tornados will play three important American Southwest Conference games this week as the team looks to make a rise through the West Division. On the 19th CTX will play at Howard Payne and then host McMurry on Friday the 22nd. Both contests are slated for a 6:00 p.m. start. Saturday the 23rd will be senior day for Concordia as it hosts Sul Ross State in a match starting at 2:00 p.m.
