AUSTIN, Texas ---The Concordia University Texas volleyball team dropped a close four-set match to McMurry University Friday evening at the CTX Fieldhouse by the scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18. The Tornados now fall to (9-13, 7-9 ASC) while McMurry improves to (14-8, 11-4 ASC).

Freshman Alison Pringle led the way for CTX by posting a match-high 13 kills. ASC Defensive Player of the Week Jessie Mundfrom, racked up 24 digs in a losing effort.

Both sides traded points in the first set until a 9-4 run stretched the McMurry lead to 21-16. An Emma Clifford kill brought it back to 22-18, but Bailey Marcum slammed home a kill to win the match for MCM.

In set two it was Concordia that opened with the advantage taking a 9-6 lead on a Jessie Elaban kill. The lead would change hands multiple times as the game opened up, coming to a 23-23 tie. CTX's Sammy Ladewig would ultimately finish the job for the Tornados as the freshman setter made a beautiful dump that fell in between the MCM defense, to bring home the 25-23 victory.

Set three and four found McMurry with the momentum as the second ranked team in the ASC west jumped out to comfortable leads midway through both games. Concordia could only narrow the gap down the stretch, as Bailey Marcum and company hit at a .286 clip in set four to seal the victory.

Sammy Ladewig dished out 20 assists while Bianca Martinez chipped in 18 to guide the Tornados to a .078 hitting percentage. McMurry hit at a .173 clip for the match and collected 12 team blocks.

Concordia will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon in a 2:00 p.m. match vs. Sul Ross State. The Tornados swept by winless SRSU earlier this season, in the only matchup of the season.
