KERRVILLE, Texas --- The Concordia University Texas volleyball team was handed a three game defeat by Schreiner University Tuesday evening at the Edington Gym by the scores of 20-25, 23-25, 16-25. CTX now falls to (10-14, 8-10 ASC) while Schreiner improves to (11-16, 9-7 ASC) for the year.
Schreiner was able slug out a .192 hitting percentage while Concordia hit at a .000 clip for the night, amassing 28 errors to just 28 kills.
Leading the way for the Tornados was
Amanda Affolter and
Kalynn White, who both recorded 10 kills in the match. Freshman
Sammy Ladewig dished out 16 assists while newly named ASC Offensive Player of the Week
Alison Pringle chipped in three kills.
Misty Fletcher and Brittany Church both had nine kills in the victory for Schreiner. Audra Burnap handed out a game-high 23 assists to go along with six digs.
The last times these teams hooked up back on September 28th saw Concordia roll to a three set win. The SU victory now locks in ASC West seeding as Concordia will finish the season two games behind Schreiner to claim the fifth spot in the seven team division.
CTX will finish out the regular season with a trip to Georgetown to play in the Southwestern Invitational October 29th and 30th. The Tornados will take on St. Thomas (1:00 p.m.) followed by a match vs. Lycoming (5:00 p.m.) on the 29th. On the 30th Concordia will face Huston-Tillotson (10:00 a.m.) and then match-up with Eastern College (2:00) p.m. in its final match of the 2010 season.
