AUSTIN, Texas --- The Concordia University volleyball team was unable to score down the stretch as the Tornados were swept by Texas Lutheran University 22-25, 22-25 and 17-25 in American Southwest Conference action Tuesday night.  With the victory TLU improves to 4-6, 4-3 ASC while the Tornados drop their fourth straight contest and fall to 2-7, 0-3 ASC on the year.

Volleyball has been proving to be a very unforgiving game for CTX this year as an inability to execute in crucial moments cost them yet again in an important ASC West match-up. Texas Lutheran took an early lead in set one as a Sarah Black kill gave them a 19-12 advantage, but Amanda Affolter scored two straight points to cut the deficit to 20-19. CTX was unable to sustain the run however, and took a 25-22 defeat in game one.

Set two mirrored the action from game one as CTX fell behind early and again faced a 20-19 deficit, but two costly serving errors led to another tough 25-22 loss.

Concordia scored the first point of set three, but it was the only time they would hold the lead as the offensive combination of Sarah Black and Jessica Stetler proved to be too much in the 25-17 defeat. Black and Stetler combined for 28 of 41 TLU kills on the night and were fed 82 times by setter Manda Martin.

Kalynn White led CTX offensively with nine kills while Alison Pringle and Amanda Affotler added five kills apiece. Haley Phillips delivered a double-double in the loss dishing out 15 assists and collecting 11 digs as the Tornados hit .168 on the evening.

Concordia will be back home this Thursday as they host Howard-Payne in a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
