Kalynn White posted a combined 22 kills and 22 digs as the Concordia University Texas volleyball team split matches with Mary Hardin-Baylor and LeTourneau on Friday, Oct. 7 at the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Challenge on the campus of Texas-Tyler. The Tornados were swept by Mary Hardin-Baylor by set scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-12 before regrouping to defeat LeTourneau in four sets by scores of 25-10, 19-25, 25-8 and 25-23.
Against Mary Hardin-Baylor,
Bianca Martinez posted her seventh double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs to pace the Tornados. White added eight kills, eight digs and a team-leading three blocks, while Jackson had 16 digs and two service aces.
Shelbi Chipman added five kills and 12 digs.
The Cru were led by Anissa Garcia's double-double of the assist-dig variety. She had 33 helpers and 15 digs. Sophia Alexiou hit at a .471 clip while registering nine kills, and Morgan Baker and Jasmine Austin finished with 17 and 16 disgs, respectively.
In the LeTourneau match, White had a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs to go along with three service aces.
Amanda Affolter had 10 kills, and Jackson contributed 17 digs. Martinez and Samantha Ladewig posted 22 and 13 digs, respectively, while running a 6-2 offense. The setters also recorded three aces apiece.
The Yellow Jackets got strong contributions from Joe Runnels, Shana Evans, Jessica Zabojnik and Kayla Bonina. Runnels had 12 kills and six digs, while Evans posted six kills and 15 digs. Zabojnik and Bonina also posted double-digit digs, while Brooke Sheranko had a team-best 13 assists in the squad's 6-2 offensive format.
Concordia (10-8, ASC 6-5) concludes play at the second Dig Pink Crossover Challenge on Saturday when it faces host Texas-Tyler at 12:30 p.m. and Texas-Dallas at 5:30 p.m.
