Brownwood, Texas – Bianca Martinez just missed a double-double with 19 assists and eight digs, but the Concordia University Texas volleyball team fell to Howard Payne, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Brownwood Coliseum. Set scores were 25-23, 25-23 and 25-19.

In addition to Martinez, Concordia also got strong contributions from Stacy Manship, Shelbi Chipman and Alison Pringle. Manship hit at a .353 clip with seven kills to go along with nine digs and two aces, while Chipman had six kills and 11 digs. Pringle finished with six kills and three blocks.

Howard Payne (7-6, ASC 3-2) was paced by Jessica Guerra, Allyson Reed and Sarah Bishop. Guerra finished with 14 assists and seven digs, while Reed had 12 assists and five digs. Bishop registered seven kills and 10 digs.

Concordia (5-8, ASC 0-2) will be one of two hosts for the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Tournament on Sept. 21-22. The Tornados open up play on Friday against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7:30 p.m.
