Tornados split two American Southwest Conference matches on Friday

ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia University Texas volleyball team split a pair of American Southwest Conference (ASC) matches on Friday at the Mabee Center. The Tornados swept Howard Payne and were topped in four sets by league-leading Texas-Dallas.

Emma Clifford and Katie Baker led Concordia Texas (9-15, 5-8 ASC) on the attack with 24 and 22 kills, respectively. Sam Ladewig racked up 63 assists in the two contests.

The Tornados will conclude its weekend at 10 a.m. on Saturday when it matches up with Hardin-Simmons.


MATCH ONE
Concordia Texas held off a late rally in the opening set and cruised the rest of the way to earn the 28-26, 25-16, 25-13 victory.

The Tornados, which picked up their third consecutive win, hit .263 in the contest, including .393 in the final panel.

Baker and Clifford each netted 13 kills apiece, while Alison Pringle chipped in with 11 winners. Ladewig handed out a match-high 33 assists.


MATCH TWO
The Comets overcame a late six-point deficit in the opening set and used the momentum to carry them to a 27-25, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 win.

Concordia picked up 11 kills apiece from Baker and Clifford, while Ladewig dished out 30 helpers. Baker completed her double-double with 14 digs, which also was matched by Zöe Allen.
