AUSTIN, Texas – After spending the first three weeks on the road, the Concordia University Texas volleyball team will open its home slate and American Southwest Conference (ASC) play on Saturday at Concordia Fieldhouse. The Tornados will play Sul Ross State at 11 a.m. and Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3 p.m. The Lobos and Cru also will play at 1 p.m.
The final contest of the day between CTX and Mary Hardin-Baylor will include a "Special Olympics Afternoon" promotion, which allows Special Olympics athletes, parents and staff to receive free admission to the match.
Concordia Texas (3-6) is looking to snap a four-match losing streak. The Tornados dropped two matches last Saturday to former ASC foes Texas Lutheran and Schreiner, both in four sets.
Alissa Johnson leads Concordia with 2.43 points and 2.54 digs per set, while
Katie Baker averages 1.94 kills per frame.
Emma Clifford owns a team-best .273 hitting percentage, while
Sam Ladewig has handed out a team-high 156 assists (4.33 per panel).
The Lobos (0-9) are winless in their first nine contests and have been swept seven times. Sul Ross State is averaging only 6.62 kills per set and its hitting percentage is .009.
The Cru (10-2) have won seven of their last eight tilts, but dropped a four-frame contest against Berry (Ga.) last Saturday in San Antonio. Mary Hardin-Baylor leads the conference with 2.62 blocks per set and ranks second in the league in kills (12.57) and digs (18.02) per set.
