Katie Baker and
Zoe Allen each registered double-doubles, but the Concordia University Texas volleyball team was swept by Hardin-Simmons on Tuesday night at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls won the match by scores of 25-16, 26-24 and 25-22.
Baker recorded a match-high 16 kills to go along with 10 digs, while Allen racked up 29 assists and 14 digs.
The Tornados (6-6, 2-2 ASC) challenged Hardin-Simmons (3-7, 2-4 ASC) in the second frame, but were unable to switch the momentum of the match. Concordia Texas had a 20-16 lead in the set, but the Cowgirls used a 5-1 run to pull even. Hardin-Simmons then won five of the last eight points to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.
The final panel was close throughout. After a kill by
Carly Custer tied the third set at 21-21, the Cowgirls forced back-to-back attack errors to take a two-point advantage. Concordia picked up a point on a service error, but Hardin-Simmons posted a pair of kills to close out the match.
The Cowgirls hit .239 and posted 10 service aces on the night. Hannah Hornsby and Corrie Reeder each netted a dozen winners to lead the way. Molli Owen guided the offense with 32 assists, while Lauren Wish collected a match-best 21 digs.
Concordia was limited to a .130 attack percentage. The Tornados also committed 21 attack errors.
CTX will return to Austin to host a pair of conference foes this weekend. The Tornados will face Texas Dallas at 7 p.m. Friday before welcoming Texas-Tyler to Concordia Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. the following day.

Katie Baker logged her team-leading fifth double-double of the season. Baker surpassed the 500 kills mark for her career in the match. The junior outside hitter has amassed 510 kills to date.
