BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas volleyball team tied its program record of 12 service aces in a three-set match Saturday afternoon as they swept Sul Ross State 3-0 in the Concordia Fieldhouse.
Shelby Barker tallied four aces to lead the way at the serving line. The mark ranks in a tie-for-third in Concordia's all-time single-game record book.
Three Tornados tallied double-digit kills to help the offense:
Katie Baker had a match-best 13 kills while
Jordan Redmond and
Carly Custer chipped in 10 each. Barker landed six kills on seven attacks without an error to record a .857 hitting percentage.
Lexi Perez led the defensive effort with 10 digs. Baker and Redmond combined for 3.5 of the squad's 5.0 total blocks.
After honoring five seniors (Baker, Redmond, Truss,

K'Lyn Brigance), the Tornados and Lobos traded points early in the opening set. After a 15-all tie, Concordia clamped down and went on a 10-2 run to close out the frame, 25-17.
In the second set, the Tornados kept the momentum going, getting out to a 20-9 lead. Sul Ross State chipped into the spread, but Concordia took the set 25-17 to grab a 2-0 lead in the overall match.
The third set was the most back-and-forth game of the night. It saw seven ties and three lead changes. The Lobos had a 15-13 advantage before the Tornados knotted the stanza at 15-all. After grabbing a 16-15 advantage, Concordia never allowed another stalemate. However, Sul Ross was never down by more than five the rest of the way. The Tornados were still able to close out the sweep with a 25-20 win.
