BOX SCORE SEGUIN, Texas -- Despite a valiant effort to avoid the sweep in the third game, the Concordia Texas volleyball team fell short at Texas Lutheran in a 3-0 decision Friday evening to close out play in the abbreviated TLU Bulldog Halloween Classic.

The Tornados had a 14-11 advantage before the Bulldogs rattled off eight straight points in the third. Concordia would chip into the lead, but eventually TLU would serve for match point at 24-17. At that point, Concordia used a 7-0 spurt to tie the game at 24. The teams would tie again at 25 before the Bulldogs took the frame 27-25.

Texas Lutheran took the first set 25-22 after the two squads traded some early blows. The second frame went toe-to-toe. Despite only four ties and one lead change very early on, the stanza was decided by the minimum at 25-23.

Carly Custer led the Concordia attack with 15 kills. She hit at a .297 clip, committing just four attack errors on 37 swings. Katie Baker recorded her 10th double-double of the season in the effort, landing 11 kills and 18 digs. Lexi Perez led the match with 19 digs.

The Tornados will take on Southwestern Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. for a tune up. The American Southwest Conference Tournament at UT Dallas begins Nov. 5, when Concordia battles UT Tyler.
