BOX SCORE RICHARDSON, Texas -- Concordia Texas volleyball rolled past UT Tyler in a 3-1 victory Friday night at the American Southwest Conference Volleyball Tournament. With the victory, the Tornados established a new program standard, winning three ASC Tournament matches in the same year.
Carly Custer's 15 kills combined with the team's 13 total blocks (22 assist, four solo) helped pace Concordia to victory. In addition to Custer,
Katie Baker registered 14 kills and hit at a team-best .294 percentage to go along with three service aces.
K'Lyn Brigance recorded her first double-double of the year, dishing out 23 assists and grabbing 10 digs.
Lexi Perez grabbed 16 digs to bring her season total to an even 500.
Jordan Redmond (one solo, six block assist) and Baker (five block assist) were a huge force at the net, as well. The tandem accounted for 6.5 total blocks.
The Tornados never trailed in the game-deciding set, taking it 25-20.
Concordia took control in the first set after breaking a 7-7 tie early on. The Tornados would take the opener by a 25-19 tally. CTX got out to a 2-0 lead in the match after winning the second set, 25-20.
The Patriots was able to avoid the sweep, setting the pace early in the third set and hanging on for a 25-21 win after the Tornados crept to a 17-all tie.
Concordia will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor tomorrow afternoon in another elimination contest for both squads. The two teams split the season series. First serve is at 11 a.m.
