BOX SCORE RICHARDSON, Texas -- The Concordia Texas volleyball team took home the victory in a 3-2 decision over East Texas Baptist Friday afternoon. Both teams faced elimination in the double-elimination American Southwest Conference Tournament.

This is the first time Concordia has won two matches in the ASC Tournament since 1999, when the Tornados took home the conference title.

After breaking a 1-1 tie, the Tornados led wire-to-wire in the closing set to tip the scale with a 15-7 win. Skye Truss and Shelby Barker teamed up to seal the win with a match-ending block.

Katie Baker posted 16 kills and 21 digs for her 12th double-double of the season. Carly Custer added 15 kills and hit at a team-best .400 clip. Jordan Redmond landed 14 kills and accounted for four total blocks.

Concordia took a 2-0 in the match after winning the first two games, 25-20 and 25-19. Then, ETBU found life and controlled the third set virtually from start to finish to avoid the sweep with a 25-21 win.

Both teams battled in set four. After the Tigers got out to a 16-11 advantage, the Tornados were able to rally to within two points at 20-18. Sadly, East Texas Baptist rallied out of a timeout and closed the set on a 5-1 rally.

Concordia moves on to play UT Tyler in an elimination match this evening for a right to play either UMHB or UT Dallas in the semi-finals Saturday.
