BOX SCORE ABILENE, Texas -- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team played shutdown defense in the second half at McMurry as the Tornados (9-9) downed the War Hawks (3-15) 67-47 on the road Thursday evening.
Jaela Dejean logged 19 points to lead all scores while
Isis Johnson tallied 10 points and was the only other player to end the night in double-digits for Concordia.
The Tornados went into the half trailing 30-29 after both teams started slow. The War Hawks opened up a seven-point lead late in the second quarter, but CTX closed the period on a 6-0 run. Concordia used a 38-17 surge that stretched the entire second half to win the game. The Tornados' defense allowed just four War Hawk baskets in the final 20 minutes.
For the game, CTX cashed in 24 points off 22 forced turnovers and held McMurry below 30 percent from the floor.
The Tornados remain in Abilene to take on Hardin-Simmons Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
