AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball squad suffered a 3-0 sweep against Austin College Saturday afternoon at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

The Roos were in control in the first set, though the Tornados rallied late fighting off set point twice before falling short 25-19.

The Tornados started the middle frame on top, breaking away for a lead as late as 16-13, but AC went on a 5-2 spurt to tie the set at 18. After CTX tied it once again 20, the Roos closed the second on a 5-2 rally to take the stanza 25-22.

Concordia climbed out of an 8-1 start to the third set to within a point at 14-13, but Austin College remained in control for the remainder of the set, taking it 25-20.

Courtney Gopinath led the Tornados with 11 kills. Carly Custer and Kelly Farina added 10 apiece. Lexi Perez tied for a match-high 11 digs. Lianne VanDyke also tied with a match-best 33 assists.

The Roos' Presleigh Watson had a match-best 15 kills.

Concordia concludes its season-long eight-match homestand Tuesday against Hardin-Simmons. Fans are encouraged to wear purple for a chance to get coupons for Whataburger. The match starts at 6 p.m.
