CTX Falls to No. 9 UT Dallas in Straight Sets

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The Concordia Texas volleyball team fell in straight sets at UT Dallas.

The Tornados fell behind early in the first set down 8-2, but were able to climb back within 12-7 after a Comets' service error. UT Dallas went on a 13-3 run and go on to close out the set 25-12 and go up 1-0.

 In the second set, Concordia remained close in the beginning of the set only down 11-9 after an Ashleigh Wostarek kill on a feed by setter Lianne VanDyke, who had 20 assists in the match. The Tornados were unable to keep the score close as the Comets reeled off 11 straights points and took the set 25-12.

In the third set, CTX tried to force a fourth set after a kill by Shelby Ellis trimmed the UTD lead to 20-17. The Comets eventually went on a 5-2 run to win the set 25-19 and close out the match 3-0.

 Carly Custer had a near double-double for Concordia as she tallied eight kills and 11 digs for the match, while libero Lexi Perez had 12 digs on the day.

 The Tornados are now 8-12 on the season and will close out the second crossover against Belhaven at 12:30 p.m. at UTD.
