BOX SCORE ALPINE, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team snapped a three-game skid by earning a 3-1 victory at Sul Ross State Thursday evening.
Carly Custer and Courtney Gopinath led the Tornado attack with 12 kills apiece.
Defensively, Lexi Perez led the way with a match-best 22 digs. Danielle Sellari notched a career high with 16 digs. CTX out-blocked Sul Ross, 10-3. Marissa Stinson had a team-best four total blocks (one solo, three assist).
The Tornados controlled the first and second sets, 25-19 and 25-16. CTX emerged from a 13-all tie on a 12-6 spurt in the first and used a 7-2 rally to create space in the second stanza.
The Lobos avoided the sweep with a 25-22 third set win. The two teams found themselves tied four times in the final frame, including as late as 23-all, but CTX cashed in on back-to-back Sul Ross mistakes to earn the victory in the fourth.
The Tornados remain on the road for a 6 p.m. tilt at Howard Payne tomorrow evening.
