ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team needed extra points to win its lone point in a 3-1 decision Tuesday night at McMurry in the American Southwest Conference opener for both squads.

The host War Hawks (3-2. 1-0 ASC) rebounded out of the 29-27 second set defeat for a 27-25 third set victory that gave McMurry all the momentum it needed to seal the match.

The War Hawks took the first and final sets 25-19 each.

The Tornados' (1-3, 0-1) offense was carried by a pair of freshmen – Kelly Farina and Marissa Stinson, who tallied 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Reigning ASC West Defensive Player of the Week sophomore libero Lexi Perez had a match-high 23 digs.

McMurry was carried by Baylie Barnes' match-best 15 kills.

Concordia returns to action for two matches on Sept. 9, first against Rust and then against the University of Dallas. Both contests will be played as part of the Austin College Invitational in Sherman, Texas.
