RICHARDSON, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team ended their historic season Saturday in the American Southwest Conference Tournament semifinal match with a 3-1 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Tornados finished the season with a 19-14 record and advanced to the ASC Tournament semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons. The 19 wins were the second most single season wins in school history.
In the first set, UMHB used a 5-0 run in the middle of the set to grab a 14-8 lead. They were able to keep CTX at arms-length and win the set 25-20.
The Cru were able to pull away in set two by hitting .320 in the set to take a 25-16 set win.
Down 2-0, the Tornados were able to storm back in the third set and take a thrilling 28-26 win in the set. CTX held off a set point from UMHB and used a 4-1 run to close the match.
The Tornados were unable to keep the momentum, however, as The Cru jumped ahead 10-2 early in the fourth set. UMHB won the set 25-13 and the match 3-1.
Georgia Quiroz was phenomenal in the match for CTX, as she picked up a double-double with 40 assists and 17 digs. It was the sixth time this season she notched at least 40 assists.
Marissa Stinson led the way in kills with 13 while hitting .296 in the match.

Carly Custer and
Marlena Iruegas played in their final game for CTX. They finish their CTX careers with a career record of 58-56 and three trips to the ASC Tournament in four years.
