AUSTIN, Texas –
Jaela Dejean's 18 points were not enough for the Concordia Texas women's basketball team as they fell to Texas Lutheran 68-52 on Tuesday inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
The Tornados and Bulldogs faced each other for the second time in nine days after CTX won the first matchup.
The Tornados fell behind early as TLU built an 18-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Concordia Texas would mount a rally in the second period, cutting the deficit to 12 points, fueled in part by Dejean's eight points in the quarter and trailed 40-28 at the half.
In the second half, the Bulldogs maintained their double-digit lead, shooting over 63 percent from the field in the half alone.
Kaycie Dunkerley and
Sara Perez each had big second-half performances for the Tornados as Dunkerley scored nine of her 16 points and Perez scored six of her eight points on the night. Dunkerley also had a team-high seven rebounds for CTX as they fell 68-52 for only their third loss on the season.
The Tornados now go on the road to close out 2017, as they head to Clarksville, Ark., to face the University of the Ozarks on Dec. 17.
