Neal leads the Tornados past Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas – The Concordia Men's basketball, behind Joe Neal's double-double, defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor 101-94 on Saturday afternoon for their fifth straight win.
 
Neal finished with a team-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Ben Page finished the game with a career-high 22 points to along with seven rebounds, including three on the offensive boards. The Tornados (15-6, 9-3 ASC) shot 42.9 percent from behind the arc, while holding the Cru (13-8, 6-6 ASC) to 43.5 percent from the field.
 
In the first half, CTX fell behind early 27-8 with 11:41 left in the first half. But the Tornados would not go down easily, chipping away at the deficit throughout the half. In the final 11:41 of the first half, CTX outscored the Cru 41-18 and headed to the locker room leading 49-45 as Ephriam Price scored 10 of his 12 first half points during the run. The Tornados' bench was the key in the first half, accounting for 26 of the team's 49 points, while UMHB's bench only amounted to 13 points.
 
In the second half, the lead would change six times between CTX and the Cru. UMHB regained the lead early in the second half after a 15-6 run and led 60-56 with 15:28 remaining. Neal, who scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half, knocked down a three-pointer to take back the lead for the Tornados with 12:42 left. Leading 89-88 with 3:20 remaining, CTX closed out the game on a 12-6 run, as Neal knocked down his final four free-throws to seal the win of 101-94.
 
Next up, the Tornados return home to face Howard Payne on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
