SHERMAN, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team went 1-1 on Friday in the Austin College Tournament, falling 3-1 to Austin College in the first match before bouncing back for a straight sets win over Letourneau in game two.
In game one, CTX dropped the first two against tournament host Austin College. The Tornados bounced back with a 25-23 win in set three, but were unable to complete the comeback as the lost the fourth set 25-19.
Marjani Myles had a phenomenal game for the Tornados, leading the team with 12 kills while recording a .346 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, two CTX players picked up double doubles as
Carly Custer had 11 kills and 15 digs and
Georgia Quiroz notched 44 assists and 12 digs.
The Tornados came back in game two of the day with a 3-0 dismantling of ASC conference foe LeTourneau.
The CTX defense was the highlight of the game, holding LeTourneau to a .057 hitting percentage. The Tornados picked up eight blocks as a team and different Tornados recorded double digit digs (Custer, Quiroz and
Sydney Dudney).
Offensively, Concordia was led by
Marissa Stinson, who recorded 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
The Tornados continue play in the Austin College tournament Saturday at 9 a.m. against Pacific University.
