AUSTIN, Texas –
Ephriam Price III set a new career high with 36 points on the way to becoming the 15th player in program history to score 1000 points in a career, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team came up short to UT Dallas, falling 101-100 on Monday.
Price III knocked down a pair of free throws with 2:47 left in the game to break the 1000-point threshold, reaching the mark in 68 games as a Tornado. He is the first to break into the exclusive group since Rashad Coleman did it last season.
Trailing 101-94 with 2:31 to play, the Tornados would mount their comeback as
Joshua Samuels and Price III would knock down back-to-back threes to cut the deficit to one. It was one of eight three-pointers for Price III on the night.
After the Tornados forced a shot clock violation with 10 seconds left to play, they had one final chance to take the lead.
Joe Neal would drive right and pull up but his attempt would be short and CTX was unable to put up another shot before the buzzer, losing 101-100.
Neal would finish the game with 27 points, inching him closer to the 1000-point mark as well, as he is only now 10 points away from joining his teammate Price III.
Neal will look to accomplish the feat on Thursday when the Tornados will host American Southwest Conference West Division leader Sul Ross State at 7:30 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse, as CTX looks to snap their two-game skid.
