BELTON, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team saw their 2018 season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the American Southwest Conference Quarterfinals Tuesday night at Cru Soccer Field.
The Tornados advanced to the ASC Tournament for the ninth straight season, the third longest active streak in conference history. CTX closes the year at 6-10 overall, and 5-6 in ASC play.
UMHB scored a single goal in each half in the 18th and 50th minute, respectively to take home the victory.
In goal,
Shelby Franco was able to rack up five saves in the loss, and ends the year having played every minute as the Tornados' goalie this season.
Offensively, freshmen
Emily Newton and
Savannah McHam both narrowly missed finding the back of the net.
The Tornados will say good bye to seniors
Skylar Larkin and
Victoria Herrera. In the past four seasons, CTX has racked up 28 total victories.
Next season, the Tornados will return 10 players who made at least 10 starts this season, including their top four goal scorers in McHam,
Pamela Lasprilla,
Cayla Gonzalez and
Kaycee Moore.
