RICHARDSON, Texas –
Omar Aguirre scored his 17th goal of the season, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday, ending their American Southwest Conference Tournament run.
After a first half goal by the Cru gave them the 1-0 lead, the Tornados would respond in the 68th minute.
A foul just outside the top of the box resulted in a free kick for CTX, where
Omar Aguirre continued his historic season with a bending goal into the top right corner to tie it up at 1-all.
The equalizer was short lived for the Tornados though as a penalty kick was awarded to UMHB in the 78th minute after a foul in the box off a corner kick. The Cru's Martin Lopez would put it into the back of the net as they regained the lead at 2-1.
The Tornados would battle to the final whistle, seeking the equalizer, but were unable to score another goal as they fell 2-1 to UMHB.
The loss ends CTX's best ASC Tournament run since 2016 and a season where they set a program record for most conference wins in a single season and saw Aguirre shatter the single-season and career goal scoring programs records.
