GEORGETOWN, Texas –
Joe Neal,
Ephriam Price III and
Charles Rambo III all scored in double figures to lead the way for the Concordia Texas men's basketball team as they dropped a 102-90 decision against Southwestern Tuesday night at Robertson Center.
Neal produced 22 points, Price III picked up 15 and Rambo III added 10 as CTX fell to 1-3 on the season while the Pirates moved to 3-1.
The Tornados opened the game on fire, leading by as many as 12 points in the first 10 minutes of the game. Southwestern flipped the script, however, going on a 24-5 run in the middle of the first half to take a nine point lead.
Offensively, Neal, a senior out of Houston, put up at least 20 points for the fourth straight game to start the season while also adding a season-high eight rebounds.
Leading 41-31, the Pirates extended their lead to as many as 28 in the second half after outscoring CTX 25-8 to close the first half and begin the second.
The Tornados did not go away quietly, however, going on a 13-4 run of their own to cut the deficit to 13 after
Andrew Rios drilled a 3-pointer with 1:56 left to play.
Southwestern was able to keep CTX at arms-length the rest of the way and grab the 12-point victory.
As a team, the Tornados held a significant 58-44 advantage in points in the paint and shot 50.0 percent from the floor.
Next up, CTX will travel to Houston to take on St. Thomas (Texas) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
