SEGUIN, Texas – In a back-and-forth affair that saw six ties and 21 lead changes, the Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell 79-77 against Texas Lutheran Monday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Tornados got at least nine points from seven different players, but it was not enough as CTX fell to 2-6 on the season.
Neither team led by more than seven points at any point in the contest as the two teams traded buckets throughout. The Bulldogs nailed a huge 3-pointer with 0:14 remaining to take a two-point lead they would not relinquish.
Facing their largest deficit of the game trailing 52-45 early in the second half, CTX was able to respond with a 9-0 to take the lead.
With 1:34 left to play,
Joe Neal knocked down two free throws to cap off a 9-3 run and give the Tornados at 76-71 lead. TLU responded, however, by closing the game on a 7-1 run to grab the victory.
Offensively, CTX was led by
Maluw Deng and
Ephriam Price III who both scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Tommy Holiday and
Joe Neal were also productive for the Tornados with nine points and five boards each.
The Tornados will return to action on Thursday when they take on UT Dallas in Richardson, Texas, at 7:30 p.m.
